Hi everyone, I am so new to crafting, I had to retire from my nursing job after 37 years due to having a tumour on my spine, I canít handle having all this time on my hands so started making fairy dolls as a hobby to help pass the time, these have been so popular with friends and family. Iíve been asked to make a few cards which I have done using letter stickers and a little bit of embossing ( which Iím not great at) . Would anyone be able to help with how I can print cards online , I see all these beautiful handmade cards with writing on them but I donít really know where to start and wld love to make my own Christmas cards this year . I hope I have explained that all ok, thank you for reading xx

There are so many things you can do to make cards its hard to know where to start to help. For that reason I suggest you watch one of the craft channels on the tv. There are 2 main ones Create and craft and Hochanda. I prefer Hochanda.

I am not suggesting that you have to buy anything from them, but it would be a very good introduction to card making. I have been making cards for a few years now and learnt a lot from watching these.

Welcome to the forum. I do bespoke design cards with wording on as the customer wants. Standard pearl card put through a HP printer using designs I have a commercial licence for and setting up on my iMac. Have put a link to some samples below so you can see what I mean. The printer can be adjusted to allow for different size cards which is a must, unless you stick to A4/A5. I also print direct onto the pearl card, cut into squares etc and mount onto pastel coloured pearl card. This can be easier to print as some printers can be temperamental.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have anymore questions.

    Hi Mogibear,

I have been making cards for about 14 yrs now and the best way to learn I found was by watching a Craft channel like Create and Craft or Hochanda.
I love card making, but at first I wasn't very good but I didn't give up, I slowly learned different ideas and techniques and got better and better and you can too.

There are loads of kits to start you off with like Hunkydory and Kaban who both feature on Create and Craft and show you how to make them.
I actually learned by watching Dawn Bibby on QVC when they used to have craft shows about 14 yrs ago now

Here are a few of my hand made cards which I make for the animal and children charities and for family and friends...
And you can make cards like these too or better, it really is easy once you know what you need and the know how ..
Just start with a card making kit at first and watch the shows and as you get better and better by watching a craft channel show you will soon learn, trust me I did..

I made 3d decoupaged cards for about 15 years, hence the user name, not made any now fir 10 years, I paper cut instead but just getting a laptop and a program for setting up text on templates and getting stuck in to find how to do what was the best way.
I used MS Publisher 2010 but these days you can download Inkscape for free and it has loads of YT tutorials for most things that it does both for images and setting up text.

    Thank you..

It's so nice to meet another card maker with the same passion as me and I love making cards too, I would love to see some of your work?

    Hi Dave,

I just love making 3D decoupage cards too, only I prefer to use dies with a die cutting machine, I used to do fussy cutting years ago but my eye sight for close up is not as good as it was..

    Nice to meet you too..
I also play arcade games on a arcade site where you play against other members for the top score, so it is really nice to join a craft site for a change, lol..

I used the precut sets for a while, then I sourced Victorian public domain images which I could use for free and then made ones up from scratch, then carried on that way for a hood few years. Loads in my album on here if you want a look.
