    Hi guys,

I'm very new the world of candlemaking and this forum.

In my time of researching, I've come across the both votiver and container jar candles. Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the two.

    Many thanks.

    Hi and welcome.

I'm new here too, but not to the world of candlemaking.

There are pillar candles which stand by themselves on a suitably fireproof surface whilst they burn.
Container candles which is wax poured into a suitable container and burned within that.
Then there are votives which are sort of half way between. They're a pillar candle in the sense they have no container, however, they are meant to be burned after being placed within a container.
