Hi Peeps, not gonna bore you all with my twoddle- just thought I'd show respect and follow the channels so to speak . Was made redundant a year ago and decided to do some of the things I've never had time to do. I've been lucky enough to cover my costs so far, but my main aim is enjoyment . Be seeing ya

Hello Jules, welcome to the forum. Well done on your decision to follow your heart and on covering costs in the first year; long may it continue

I hope you'll enjoy the forum - we have daily "coffee time" posts ( https://www.craftsforum.co.uk/forumd...crafts-related ) where some of the longer established members keep in touch on a daily basis. We are always very happy for anyone to join us, so feel free to pop over and give us a cheery good morning when you feel like it.

    Linda

Hi Mo, thanks for the welcome. Some years ago now, I bought a little lamp table that looks like a stack of big books. I've looked at it many times and thought I'd love to try and make one. So I did ! My sister begged it off me so I made another and a friend bought it off me. Then I was shocked when a stranger turned up at my door asking if I would make him a coffee table sized one. On it went, mostly I made them for friend and friends of friends. Then I started messing around with crackle paint and that lead to more lamp tables. Then I progressed to refurbing old furniture, and painting it. Then I started practicing my wood grain technique and making storage trunks. Then I got stuck into a set of pyramid drawers that I added LED lights to. Recently I bought an old Victorian travel trunk that was daubed in yellow paint and stripped it down then refurbished it. I became obsessed with the double curvature lid ! I knew that I had to give it a go so I did. It's turned out way better than I had hoped. Sounds a bit silly but I often pinch myself to see if I'm awake - I've never enjoyed life more than now. It's only took 53 years to get here !

Fantastic Jules. I can see the appeal in the books but trunks and cases I just love.

I have tried many, many crafts over the years and It has taken me longer than you to get to what I am happiest doing LOL
