I'm looking in to making some garden candles as well as indoor candles that repel insects. Mostly ants and flies (don't get many mosquitoes around).
I am a beginner. I mostly use Paraffin Wax, dye wax crystals and scent oils (I am open to using knew materials).
    Any advice, methods, suggestions welcome.
    Thanks guys

A popular scent that is supposed to repel insects is Citronella (Lemongrass).
I don't have any first hand experience of how well it works, I just know that it does not smell good if used with soy wax.

I hope that is of some help to you.

Hi Lauren and to The Crafts Forum.

I agree Citronella is the usual bug repellent pong. What scent oils are you using ? Stronger and more intense ones are essential oils rather than the pseudo manufactured ones.

    Good luck with them .

Hopefully it will work nicely with paraffin wax, I'll order some tonight and hopefully be able to give it a try in the week.
    Thank you!
