I am trying to set up a small arts and craft business - aimed at older children/teens but also adults. It will be some decopatch but also other crafts like fabric printing, using deep display frames, button crafts, beading and embellishments, using canvass boards, jewellery making, card making, mosiac shapes and so on but also need packaging (boxes) and transparent bags, ribbon etc. This is not my background so I am floundering around and making lots of mistakes but I do need to find some good wholesalers and I can't work out which ones are genuine or not. Is this the right place to ask for wholesaler recommendations? Plus any other advice would be very welcome.
    Thank you in advance
    Poppy

Hi Poppy, for a lot of the stuff mentioned above i.e. embellishments, card making, paper, ribbon, clear bags etc, you can look at Craft Creations catalogue online, the more you buy, the cheaper it gets, they supply Hobbycraft and craft shops etc...deep frames you can buy from Hobby C cheap enough for the smaller ones or IKEA for larger ones....also everything is cheap enough at The Range...

If you have your business set up ie, bank account, bus cards etc you could go to the main trade show at the NEC. You get to see all suppliers there. The other one is Baker Ross they do a lot of supplies for children upwards. A lot of the wholesellers will expect you to spend a minimum, which when starting out can be hard as you do not know what will be popular etc.

Thank you Caroline - hadn't though of the main craft show, will definitely look into that. You are right, it is so difficult to know what to buy at this stage. Thanks again for replying
