    Hi

Can anyone advise me which wood this is pleased. The top layer is coloured while the cut out edges are original wood colour.

Does the wood come like that or is it painted? Cos it didn't look painted to me.

    Thanks

The photos aren't the best but going by the first picture my guess would be Birch plywood.

    Hi
Thanks for the reply, the coloring on top of the wood. Does that come as standard or need to be done by hand?

Can you get birch ply in different color sheets?

    Thanks

Birch ply is a very light almost white finish, google laser ply and you will get an idea. looking again the letters could be mdf and they look like they've been laser cut hence the dark edges. If you wanted a colour then you would have to stain it. Even putting a clear finish on will slightly darken them both.

It's difficult to tell from your images what you mean. It just looks like standard plywood colour to me. The edges are burnt by the laser so that darkens the colour. You can get 3mm hardwood plywood from most hardware stores (Wickes/B&Q etc...) which should work with most laser cutters (over 40W or so). As for specific "laser ply" Hindleys is a pretty good supplier (can't link, just google them, or add dot com to the name).

You see the images , its got like a golf color on. So just needed to know if it was bought like that or stained after.

Ooh, I think I see what you mean. It also looks like the letters might be different (mdf) to the large pattern. Given that there appears to be some scorching on top of the paint, I would guess they painted/stained it before cutting. I have never heard of or seen pre-coloured plywood. sorry.

They might have been coated with an oil like Danish Oil that will give the look you have in the photos. The one that you think has a gold look is possibly down to the way the photo is taken. It looks like ordinary birch ply to me. If you want colour then you will have to paint either before cutting or after.
