Default Paper beads, what do you use?

    Hi, my first post here.

I am interested in crafting with things I can find around the house and I am going to make beaded jewellery from paper, pencils and things like that. So for paper beads, what do you use to roll them? I have seen tools that you can buy specifically for paper bead rolling but I have also seen people use dowel, so what is best? Also, what varnish and glue is used? Would nail varnish and craft glue do? PVA?

    Any tips and advice appreciated.

I suppose it would depend on what size of bead you want to make - I nearly always work with fine/small things so would be thinking in terms of cocktail sticks to roll the paper around, and as I already have PVA glue in house that would be the first thing I'd try. I'm not sure that nail varnish would be robust enough for beads, but someone will know of the ideal stuff no doubt and will be along to give their opinion.

modpodge could work both as a glue and as a sealant

Thanks. Yes, I was thinking cocktail sticks I've never heard of modpodge (newbie) but will give it a go if nail varnish really doesn't work. I am going to make a variety of sizes I think so I will see what works best.
