Hi folks, looking for a source of oxidised silver beads, mainly 3 or 4mm in size. Suggestions gratefully received. Many thanks

Why not just buy sterling beads and oxidise them yourself? Liver of Sulphur, Platinol and Noirit (I like the last of these) are all inexpensive and allow you to control exactly the level of darkness you want. Polishing back with either micromesh or fine steel wool is very easy and gives nice highlights to the raised areas.

Thanks for the reply mizgeorge. I had not really considered oxidising before but I think I might give it a go.

If you want to just try it out without buying any special products, just pop your pieces into a container with a chopped or sliced hard boiled egg and seal the lid - make sure the egg isn't touching the silver. The magic will happen over a few hours
