    Default Help with choosing glaze

I need suggestions choosing a specialty glaze to hide a mistake I made. I made a handprint plate and above my children's handprints wrote their names in slip, not realizing the slip was tinted black. I painted and fired the entire plate in Mayco Dandelion stroke and coat. The dandelion looks nice but around the grey/black letters are some splotches from the tinted slip underneath. I'm thinking if I go over the whole plate w a speciality glaze the splotches will be well hidden. Any suggestions?

From my days of ceramics never known of a glaze that will hide mistakes. Had a lady give me some striped plates to fire. When I had fired the pencil marks were showing through the glaze as she had not covered them with the blue.

The only suggestion I can make is to touch it up with onglaze enamel in a colour to match the background. It would of course thenneed to be fired again at enamel temperature. I think you can also buy ceramic paints that can be hardened in an ordinary oven but have never used these so cannot comment on how effective they would be.
