    Paper Punch Question!

    Good morning all,

I apologise in advance if the question that I’m about to ask makes little or no sense to many of you, however, I have come here in the hope that somebody can hopefully point me in the right direction.

I have been looking to purchase a large heart shaped paper punch and whilst I’ve had no problems sourcing many online, they all seem to punch the intended shape very close to the edge of the paper. I am looking for something that will allow me to punch holes close to the centre of a page (book), so it would seem that the one’s I have found won’t be of any use.

Does anybody know of a punch that is adjustable? or one that typically has a much greater depth so that it can work further towards the centre of the paper? I hope that makes sense

    Many thanks in advance.

You will be hard pushed to find a punch that does what you want unless you go down the die cutting route with a die cutting machine such as the big shot

Good morning and welcome to the forum.

Your question makes sense to me, but sadly I am not a paper crafter and am unable to answer your question.

However, if you can be patient - this isn't the busiest forum in the world, but there is a core of members who visit when they can - there may be someone among our very talented and knowledgeable members who might be able to help.

        Thanks for the replies guys.

I've attached a photo to better illustrate what it is I want to achieve.

It's worth noting that I have absolutely zero experience with anything craft related, so be gentle with me.

        Thanks again.

yes you would need a die cutting machine but not sure how it work to be precise as a book is quite thick.

Martha Stewart crafts has punch anywhere on the page punches as part of her range... not sure if there is a heart the size you want though. Otherwise as has already been said you will need a die cutter if you need to punch heart apertures into the centre of your base card.

            Welcome to the forum btw

If that is a commercially available book, I would have thought it would have been cut using a press. You could do that of course but it would be expensive to do. the pressure is going to be about 2 tonnes to cut through that amount of material.

As others have said I don't think you'd be able to cut through a book, but you can get punches that allow you to use any part of the page. I did a quick google for you...

                Hope it helps

Great suggestion Lucy. You could punch maybe two or three pages to start then pencil through to the next ones to line your punch up till you have done them all. A labour of love I think.

I think this is probably the best and only realistic option. Besides, I only need to punch through enough pages to fit a ring inside, so it shouldn't be too much work......

Oh, do I detect a hint of romance in the air (sorry, incurably curious)
