Advice needed! Creating plant pots out of converse trainers

Hello all you wonderfully creative people!

I need some help and thought this would be a great place to start!

My sister's best friend, who was always seen in converse trainers, sadly died a month ago. In fact, she was so well known for converse trainers everyone wore them at her funeral! As I am quite crafty, my sister has reached out to me and asked me to make some converse trainers into plant pots so they can be filled with her friends favourite flowers and placed by her grave. I was wondering if anybody had any idea on how I could do this?

I was thinking about buying some converse trainers on eBay, and some how fixing them in resin. Do you think this would work? Does anybody have any other ideas? My sister's friend was very young and many people are grieving, it would really mean a lot to them to have something like this made for her.

Any ideas or helpful hints would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you all

    Rachel

I don't think I can help you, but I just wanted to say to the forum and that I think that's a lovely idea. I am sure someone will come along and be able to steer you in the right direction. xx

You could just fill them with compost and plant flowers in them, something like this.trainer pots.jpg

Thanks Glenwood :-) I will definitely do this if I can't think of something, it's just that I wanted to put a bit of love and effort into something for her. I really do appreciate this though, thanks :-)

I was going to suggest just planting them up too; but bear in mind they won't last very long. I have seen ceramic converse shoe planters on Pinterest but I can't post a link because I don't 'do' Pinterest. I hope you manage to do something special for your sister's friend.i

Thanks MustardS, I've been on Pinterest, found some made of polymer clay which is an idea... I'm going to take another look now, thanks :-)

The only thing I can think of is putting a small pot into the shoe and planting the flowers in the pot. If they're converse hi-tops you would have a bit more space for the plant pot.
