The main post office in our town closed and the staff transferred to a new sub PO shop. They have retained their 'I work in a crown post office and am far superior to you, peasant' attitude of deigning to do one a favour - slow, poor and ungracious service. They are working behind the counter in a shop.
I now go further afield to another sub office (which the PO is trying to close) where they are invariably cheerful, pleasant and helpful and know many of their customers by name (and we them). They get the company's money daily.

Our very local PO has a morose, unhelpful woman behind the counter, go 2 miles up the road and nothing is too much bother. So you guessed it I get in my car and go up to the next village instead of walking round the corner, sad but want good and polite service, not unwashed greasy hair and miserable service.

        Hi All

The crazy thing is that after reading the postings by forum members is that no wonder there are so many PO closing, I also have had the experience of poor customer service , and also other customers moaning when they have had to wait when we was posting some parcels to send, guess what the post office has gone now and the other PO is not round the corner.

I'm amazed at how variable the service is! I use four different post offices (depends if I'm driving anywhere else that day) and only one has mentioned this form to me - but definitely not that I must use it. I sometimes post loads of parcels at a time.

All my post offices are lovely and helpful and the one I use most frequently not only knows me by name but also my daughters (who have occasionally posted stuff for me), my guide dog puppy and even one of my chickens (who got her beak trapped in the back door one day and was dropped off at the vet's on the way to the post office...who knew that chicken's beaks could bleed and that a superglue-type product could fix them?!).

My local sorting office received my passport 2 years ago and when I went to pick it up i took a few pieces of ID (provisional & proof of address) they just gave me it and walked away. I was so angry as I could of potentially been anyone. However I have sent quite a few parcels and letters recently and the staff at the Post Office have always helped me out by checking each parcel and letter to see if i could get a cheaper postage rate so rather than small package it being a large letter etc.

I'm also a little concerned that two packages I've sent recently the lady behind the counter has insisted that they're large letters but I think they're small parcels. I hope my customer gets them alright, I'd like to think they know their job ?

The lady I had actually measured it using that wee board they use and said it was a large letter

I've got one of those boards at home ( my daughter says I like to play post offices lol ) but I'm convinced it should have gone as a parcel rather than a large letter

Why are you cutting and pasting a reply made by someone else over two years ago? This thread has been dormant for more than two years and your action adds nothing to the discussion.
