    Hi guys and gals,

I'm in the process of coming up with idea's of what to engrave on stones in the back garden as the prices i have seen in the shops are all just silly money.

So i wounder if anyone can point me in the right direction?

I'm wanting to create ornate deep cut images into sandstone, slate and lots of other hard stones i have no idea what there names are :P. Now i know of the dremel but i don't think it's going to help me with smaller stones as I would have trouble trying to get detail without the pain due to the low RPM.

I've been looking into many methods of doing large and small carvings but just can't seem to find anything tha'ts been used for the similar jobs apart from CNC machines, cnc are good but i just can't see the logic in buying 3k worth of equipment that does it all for me..... where's the fun in that?

I've also looked into sand blasting but have no idea where to start on that apart from a building site

    Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas :P lol i know its early but hay!!

Sand blasting would be your best bet, its what I do, mostly on glass but also on stone, metal and ceramics.
Have a look here http://azglassclasses.com/portal/ read the forums, there is one section dedicated to monuments and stone.
We are a friendly bunch so register and ask questions.

I have a friend who does headstones and plaques using the sandblasting method, it seems the easiest way
