    I had to go from Calcutta to Bombay by train in the 60's and the stations were basically full of traders. You bought things through the window, the train sometimes stopped, sometimes just slowed down. Quite an eye opener for a teenager in the 60's LOL (oops, giving my age away a bit. LOL it was the late 60's..... '69 if I remember correctly )
