    Owl Sculpture

This is what Im working on at the moment. Its almost finished.
Then a silicone mould will be made and a wax copy cast.
I will then coat in ceramic shell, burn out the wax and pour in the bronze.
This is a bit of an over simplification but is the general process

This is beautiful and very detailed, well done.
    Is this black thing wax?
Have you carved it on your own?

Yes the black is wax. and carved from photos. Its about half life size. The branch is a bit of a cheat as I used a real piece of wood instead of sculpting it myself.

The photos look amazing. Just cannot wait to see the completed bronze. This I presume is cast bronze metal, not the resin kind.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I did let this one sit around for about 4 months as I lost interest. But now I can see an end in sight Im looking forward to the next stage.

Wow this is amazing, I'd have never thought of doing something like this. Don't think I'd ever be able to do something like this.

Thanks again for the kind comments
Expensive if you have to pay a foundry to take your original work in clay or wax then use it to produce a bronze. I do the whole process myself from start to finish. I have build a homemade furnace so the cost is not too bad once you are set up with all the equipment. I use the lost wax and ceramic shell methods. I have a website and will put it in my signature when I have sufficient posts.

You can do that now. The 25 posts rule is for links within a thread.
