The 'gingers' are fab. I end up making loads of gingerbread ones at Christmas. Supposed to be for the tree but they always get eaten before they can get strung up. Maybe salt dough's the way to go. Don't think they'd taste quite so nice!!!

kids always want to eat the dough, when making stuff wth salt dough! it does look like any other normal tasty dough, except it isn't!, and the look on their faces , after a taste! Mind you I only ever do the basic resipe withkid around, don't like to use any others mixed with glue, or wall paper paste or sand or paint, as that would be nasty fror them to eat!

Unfortunately the mice are not put off from nibbling it!, as I discovered when I went to get out some xmas dec bits!

            Those are lovely Emma

I've got some dough books which I'm always looking through and markings things that I would love to have a go at but to be honest its the time spent in the oven that kind of puts me off getting into it. Is it really hours baking?

Yep...it is a long slow bake! too hot, and they can warp, bubble, or turn into toast!
Personally , I try to leave them in front of a sunny window, which dries them out nicely without warping, cracking, bubbling, etc, but that's even slower! You can also put them into an airing cupboard for a slow dry if you want.

I've got a round baking tray (a pizza tray) and so make the larger wreaths directly onto it, that way I can keep a perfect round shape!

great idea! i've used just about everything else in the kitchen so far!, and I don't actually use the pizza trays anymore as they're too small. Have to make pizza in a very large rectangular tray that only just fits in my extra large oven!

I love the little gingerbread men and the mice are really cute...

from the title I thought someone was eating the saltdough which doesn't sound a terribly good idea!
