  • Snowing....but spring is round the corner

There may be 8 inches of snow on the garden but I've spent a couple of hours planting seeds this afternoon. Indoors of course ready for planting out later. We grow all of our own helichrysum for use on our decorations. Photo (hopefully???) of a couple of helichrysum hearts we have just made out of last years remaining flower heads. They went so well last year I am taking a bit more of the lawn up so we can put in more plants this year (saves on the mowing as well!)

Thanks - the flower heads are on wicker hearts. We have some willow trees at the bottom of the garden so the next step is to try and make some willow hearts and then they will be 100% home grown and hand made. It'll cut down on the overheads as well.

That's a lovely idea. I sell garden plants (as well as other crafts) and keep my leftovers for making potpourri. I may grow some helichrysum just for that. I've just sown some delphiniums as dried blue flowers are so expensive.

Well done. The wicker hearts are beautiful.

They look like they would look nice hanging up in a kitchen.
