If you have a lot of cards to make for friends and family (I make about 80) then how about this for an idea to speed things up a bit.
Last year I took a piece of thin card and ran it through my printer to get the wording 'Merry Christmas and Happy New Year'.
Then I made a collage on it using coloured tissue paper and fabric to make the trees, sequins for stars and a deer that I cut from a piece of scrap fabric (I stitched around the outside for emphasis with a sparkly thread).
Then I took a digital photograph of the finished collage and put it into 'Paint Shop' and played with the various 'effects' until I was happy with the result.
I sent the altered digital image to an online photo developer who had a good deal on 75+ image orders (5" x 7").
To make each card I folded an A4 piece of black card, stuck a photo on the front and a white paper insert (printed with my own words) inside.
Job done!
