  • Patchwork Tree!

I am still everso addicted to crazy patchwork, and its a great way for me to use all those lil bits.

So here is my patchwork tree. I initially wanted to put numbers up the side, but I wonder if it will spoil it a bit? Any thoughts? Wthout numbers its just wall art I guess.

I kinda thought that some people would be happy to embroider heights as they go? But that might be a bit much for some people

Here is the pic on my flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/kryshees/5657249242/ as I can't figure out how to put the linky pic in.

Hope you all had a lovely easter everyone!

What a fab idea! difficult one about the numbers as I can see your point about people adding it themselves, but I think if it was me I would like some measurements on one side.

That is lovely. Me personally I don't know one end of a needle from the next. Could you put numbers up the side and for those challenged with the needle and thread could they use a felt tip pen or marker of some sort?

      Great workl

Thanks cj, I love it. I have some lil iron on letters in black felt that I can iron/sew on.

The tree is about 130cm but I think I'd only do numbers on the trunk, if I did do the numbers.

And I am seriously loving my scrap bag being reduced lots and lots! One more tree ready on the sewing table, so they will get their first fairing this sat & sun, so thats pretty cool too!

Hi Sparkly how about numbers up the truck and a length of velcro sewn along side it then you could make something from fabric perhaps a little bird to mark the height with a piece of velcro stitched to the back of it - hope that makes sense!

I prefer it as it is. It is good enough to 'stand alone'. Have left you a comment.

That looks really lovely! I like the idea of having something you could mark the height with - though velcro on the tree may be a little scratcy?

Could you make a bird or leaf (or whatever you like!) out of fabrics, make it stiff, then attach a clothes peg to the back or some other form of clip? Then it could clip to the side of the trunk.

Would definitely only use the trunk for numbers as they would get lost in the actual branches. The idea of using a velcro strip to move a critter up the tree is ace, but I would go with a squirrel... or maybe you could make several different animals so the tree could be used for several children in a family?

I think the general concensu is with nmbers, and up the trunk alone. I love the idea of having a creature going up the side, think so far, wood pecker, squirrel and maybe a beatle?! ooo love it!!

You could always have the soft side of the velcro facing out so its not scratchy and the stiff scratchy bit on the back of the marker piece. Love the idea of using different animal marker pieces for each child can't wait to see the finished product now.
