  • shabby chic and vintage shop?

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum.. my name is Steph

I just moved into a new little place and I want to really make it my own, I love shabby chic and vintage homeware. I've taken a few peices back and tried to distress them in the past, but I'm just not very good at it!

I want to go shopping and pick some bits up, but don't know where's best to look, can anyone point me in the right direction? - I live in Wolvey, in between Coventry and Leicester and will travel a few miles if there's a nice place to visit for some ideas and maybe some retail therapy!

There is a beautiful little shop in a village a couple of miles from me called Swaton in Lincolnshire would that be too far? Here is a link to their website:

They are a really lovely family firm and will take you for a tour around their workshop so you can see how the designs come together they also give lots of tips about how to look after your furniture at home and their prices are quite reasonable too. Right opposite is a farm shop who do scrummy homemade cake so you could pop in there afterwards. If you fancy a trip up here give me a shout I don't mind showing you around.

We are also quite close to Newark where there are TONS of vintage and antique shops orof course there is Lincoln, so pretty lots of lovely shabby chicness going on there and in the opposite direction there is Stamford a gorgeous tudor town lots of lovely gifts shops just what you are looking for.

Wow thanks for that! I'm going to have to check that out some time!

Well I just found a lovely little place in Hinckley, which is only a couple of miles from me. It's a really nice gift shop with candles, flowers and best of all, some great looking furniture that the lady restores herself

oh yeah, I forgot to mention her dogs! she has too adorable boxers... they look as silly as they behave! You'd think two dogs in a shop like that would be asking for trouble with all the breakables in there!

Forgot to say, it's called Swag Box, and it's just off the top of the main high street, Castle Street - not sure what that bit of road is called, but it's right by the main bit
