Wow! That is fantastic, I can't believe you have made that from real coffee beans. I have seen lots of handmade pens before but never one like that!

I hope you do really well with these - they look amazing

That is so clever!!! I have seen wood turned pens before but nothing like this. Well done.

Just out of curiosity, how easy is it to turn a pen in wood as opposed to other turned items.

I ask because someone has asked to have a stall at my fairs with wood turned pens, I only allow handcrafted and to be honest the pens in question look very "mass produced" compaired to other wood items by this person

Firstly I would like to thank everyone who took the time to write in and reply to my post, many many thanks for your nice comments.

Even turning a wooden pen has great difficulties, take the burrs/burls for one thing they can be very brittle! But the key to all turning is to have very sharp tools and the lathe speed set at the right speed for the right project.

Coffee bean pens are a bit trickier because you have got the resin that is quite hard and the bean itself reasonably soft, but again with sharp tools and care it can be done quite easily, snakeskin bens are a bit more challenging but again care must be taken.

                      Thank you for questions

                      Kind regards Mervyn

Do you make filofax pens ? I am always losing mine, thinking I might look after a proper pen better.
