I never knew quilling could be such a detailed art form until you started this project! Thank you for opening my eyes!
If I was to start quilling from scratch where would be the best place to start?
Mel

So far I've spent probably about 3-4 hours on about 1/8th of the project!!!! I will have to take another photo to let you see how its getting on. So I reckon only another 30 hours to go... but I don't manage more than 1 hour most evenings so it will be a little while. It's about 10x12 inches.
I usually make up my projects in stages. I used to just make the shapes and then stick them straight onto the background card and build up the design like that, but found that this sometimes meant I wasn't happy with some of it or it wasn't positioned very well, so now I glue the shapes to each other in sections and then can move the sections around the card until I'm happy with the arrangement, so I put the design on tracing paper and then build it up holding the shapes in place with the pins while the glue sets.
Mel - if you want to give it a go I suggest you probably get a kit first. You can get some from either http://www.jjquilling.co.uk/ or www.quilledcreations.com I started off with a kit about 18 years ago!!! Scary thought that!
