Glass Inclusion mat

Hi everyone

I havent beena round for a bit, got a new work project and had to do some extra hours. Its settling now so I can get back to what I love doing in the evenings.

I set the kiln up a couple of weeks ago to make Mother a cranberry glass saucer for her mug (designed the mould) I didnt take a picture of that but I have of the other thing in the kiln at the same time which was this mat.

It is black bullseye, brass and dichroic inserts and a clear top.

Really different. I love fused glass, it really fascinates me how the glass melts etc.

When you say brass, you mean the metal?

Yes that is brass its 0.3mm cuts easily with scissors, want to try a confetti punch next week. I know that silver goes black, copper goes a reddish colour and brass seems to go a muddy gold colour. As a focal point inside the mat they do look great put want to try one of those confetti cutters.

I was really pleased with the outcome but it was only a test, didnt expect the thing to be usable but I have used it and its great.

Wanting to try some frit between clear tekta and a brass and copper inclusion and some dichro and see what I can come up with.

The mould I made was using one inch board which I cut to size and shape. It worked really well and has given me an interesting saucer for mugs, glasses etc.
