  • Not Scorchy at all!

So, I bought these cotton bags 'cos my sister-in-law wanted a couple for Christmas, and I thought we could paint them for her. And we did, and it was fun!

But you have to buy 'em in dozens, and now I have lots left over... so I painted some to sell.

    Fun, huh?

Not convinced they're gonna sell, though, as the time they take to do makes them work out reeeeeeally pricey!
    Cheers,
    Scorch

                Thank you all!

To get the designs on, I printed a design out really bold on paper, went over it in thick black pen where it wasn't black enough, and put that in the bag, with some white paper behind it. That way, you can see it through the fabric well enough to draw it on the bag itself with a soft pencil. I used a foot-wide embroidery hoop to stretch the bag on, and a hunk of cardboard to keep the rest of the bag flat and out of the way.
Then I painted them with iron-fixed fabric paint (Pebeo Setacolor) and a small, fairly stiff brush. I made sure to keep the pencil lines at the very edges, as they'll show through the paint! When it was dry, I added the fine black lines of detailing with a fabric-paint pen (Pebeo again), and ironed the lot down.
I'm pleased with the result, but it does take ages...
                Cheers,

                        Thank you all SO much!

The pentacle is metallic blues, and I even added shading where they interweave but it doesn't show up too well in the pic...
                        Cheers,
