  • House number sign

here's the attempt I made at a house number sign for my brother's birthday

I have it to him today - he loves it. I'm not entirely happy, I scorched the wood slightly, the varnishing isn't great either!

I think its fab! I know what you mean its so hard not to be over critical with your own work, but really I think it looks brilliant! Very clever!

          aw thanks
I think the fact the picture is quite small doesn't show my criticisms! The flash obscures some of the picture too
I still can't fully work out pictures, either taking them or posting them up on threads!
I haven't done the block filling with pyrography before, I think thats how I ended up scorching - right at the last moment it was too
The wood seemed to scorch from underneath????

I wanted to say thanks to Nader and woodtattoos too who both helped me loads with my lots of questions!!

It looks pretty good to me. I'd be delighted to receive it (except I don't live at 188!)

That's fab!!! I think all of us crafty people are over-critical of our own work... you should sit back and admire this wonderful piece

Looks fantastic for a first attempt! Block filling isn't everyone's cup of tea so well done for giving it a go, and glad that the info I gave you was useful!

it`s really good, but it probably wouldn`t be if you were not overly critical of your work. i would buy it . good luck with future projects

Can't believe it - got a commission for a house sign.

The lady who bought from me was happy for me to post a picture which is very kind

                          Here it is....

hopefully the flowers do resemble Jasmine!

I wish I could sort out posting pictures - it's not that easy to see

That looks very good - and the flowers are close to these (some jasmines have rounded petals and some have pointed - your leaves look to be spot on as well).
