  • Beading Hinckley Leics

Ive just introduced myself to the forum but wanted to say hello to anyone local. Im in my 50's and have always done cross stitch but came across a new bead shop at the top of Castle Street Hinckley called Abacus.

They run workshops and I have completed a necklace and matching earrings, and I hope to go back to be introduced to seed bead work.

They have a great collection but wondered as I need to walk before I run if anyone has any suggestions where I should begin.

Hi. I am a jewellery maker living not too far away and that's the first I have heard of Abacus bead shop so thank you for mentioning it. I think you should just have a go at as many different techniques as pssible and soon you willl be experimenting and designing your own work. Good luck

Hi, I am in my fifties too and I have been making jewellery since the end of May 2008. I started to make pendants at first, then moved on to earrings, then bracelets, then strung necklaces as I thought these looked the most difficult. I think it best to start off with simple things which are not too difficult at first, until you feel more confident to tackle something a bit more challenging. You will soon gain experience the more you stick at it, and believe me it is totally addictive. Good luck!!

        hi there,

I'm a bit of a beader! in Leicester although nearer to Market Harborough than Hinckley. Good to hear of a beadshop tho' as Leicester seems to be bereft of these.

        Welcome to the forum.
