  • Help needed with my latest designs... Fridge Magnets!

I've made these earlier and have decided that they would make good fridge magnets. Can anyone...

    (a) recommend a good supplier of magnets?
    (b) tell me the best glue to use to attach them to the back of the wooden plaques?

(Bonus points to the first person who can name all four people in the designs!)

They are really good, they look very effective!
Don't laugh when I get this wrong, and don't be offended if I do! I am rubbish at faces (that's what's so good about this forum, I only have to remember names!) One of them looks like Dave Grohl, and another looks like Johnny Cash.

Crafty Bits do good magnets, I've never used them for anything as heavy as wood though, you could maybe use a wood glue or super glue to stick it on with http://www.themarketgallery.com/?PLUID=5022306723020 I found some on here, but you might know somewhere better?

We get our magnets from Burhouse and we use E6000 glue to stick them onto gemstones. Never had one come off yet.

Not sure of the first one but I think the 2nd one is Clapton, 3rd one looks a bit like Bono and the last one looks a bit like a young Elvis but Urbtaf reckons it could be Bowie.

I second the E6000 glue. As for the pics ... I think the second one was my old Geography teacher

The Burhouse magnets will hold the weight of a 1" x 1" gemstone. I would guess you may need 2 + for a piece of wood, not so much for the weight but if they rock a little they can lose contact. They are quite cheap though

The second one reminds me of
Dave Grohl of the Foo fighters.

So Louise88 gets the first bonus point so far for correctly guessing that Magnet #2 was Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters (closely agreed with by goldy1).

Which only leaves three left to guess!

Thanks to everyone for their magnet and glue suggestions so far, I will start looking into the options when I get a chance.

                      Cool, Si!

I "inherited" some wooden fridge magnets as part of a bulk-buy some years ago - the wooden pieces are about 3" across, and the magnets are little round ones about 1/2" across that look to be stuck on with epoxy.

                      How big are these pieces?
                      Cheers,

They are approximately 2 inches wide by 3.5 inches high. I would have thought that round magnet approximately an inch in diameter as a minimum would be good enough to hold them as they are not heavy at all.

Oh, yes, I'm sure they'd be strong enough. Probably smaller ones would be OK.

You can sometimes get them in hardware shops, where you'd be able to try them out if you took some blu-tack!
                          Cheers,

                            Si, your magnets are great!!
I make magnets in polymer clay, so it's a very light material, and I buy mine from an e-bay shop. The have quite a variety of types, sizes, etc., and they are very nice and decently fast.I'd say cheap, too (this doesn't hurt! )
I'm never sure about what I can post and what I can not, so if you want PM me and I'll give you the link..

P.S. How is it going with the publication?

Oh, I forgot.. I glue my magnets with super glue, given that fimo is light; I rekon that any good epoxy glue would do..
