  • My first bangle

I have finally made my first bangle, using Sterling Silver wire, Bali & Sterling Silver beads, Amethyst & Rainbow Flourite chips. It is far from perfect, but I'm really pleased with how it turned out and will be keeping this one for myself. I loved making this bangle so will be making lots more of them. Also want to make my own clasp, but need a bit more confidence first.

    Picture on my blog

What do you think? Not a great picture I know, but I don't have my usual photo editing package on my home pc, only on my work laptop. But can't get on it atm.

I have a stand at a local village fete tomorrow so hopefully if I do well, I might be able to afford more Bali beads & Sterling Silver wire. But I'm still so nervous working with these materials... not sure why.

I'm in the process of pricing all my stuff for tomorrow and have still a lot more preparation to do. Looks like it's going to be a late night for me

I think that is really lovely.

    How did you make it?

It looks very professional by the way, I see no flaws!

Good luck with your craft fair too

          Lovely bracelet

I still get a bit nervous working with silver - pretty much because of the cost! But I've learnt to relax a bit or I'd never get anything done for fear of ruining it. And the best thing about mistakes in silver is that it's recyclable!

Do hope things go well for you tomorrow and that you get all the pricing done well ahead of time.

Thank you all for your kind comments

Pebbles, I used 1mm sterling silver wire and made a loop one end, then strung the beads on. Once I had the desired size, I made another loop the other end and attached the s-clasp. Very simple. But I wanted to use some smaller amethyst beads instead of the chips, but the holes were to small and I never thought of that when I started. Luckily the holes in the chips were big enough, but if the holes aren't exactly in the middle, then they just break. So they're not the most ideal beads to use for this project. Hence not being perfect as every time I put it on, another chip falls off I've decided to practice more with glass beads & silver plated wire before spending too much money on sterling silver & gemstones. What I really want to use are lampwork glass beads but need to sell some more first before I can buy some... Then I'll be giving Bumpybeads a shout as I love her beads

I think its gorgeous and amethyst and fluorite always look great together.

They always say the first one is special (no smutting innuendoes please!!!) so you should definitely keep it for yourself.

for tomorrow - I do hope the weather holds off for you. Keep us posted as to how you got on.

Oh Auntynet, nobody's ever given me flowers on a forum before. Thank you!

Thank you all for the lovely compliments. It was just the boost I needed for tomorrow. I'm very critical of my work and never think it's good enough (and no, I'm not fishing for compliments, I'm totally honest here).

I think that's me done for today. The rest of the preparations can wait till the morning.
