  • Positive vibes from the eternal optomist.

    Right were was we.

So far i have applied for funding and have been given a positive nod that i will be starting a new Cabinet maker/joinery course eithour in June or Sept at the latest.

I have got permission from my landlord to put up a smart but light leantoo up against the house i can use to work on my woodlathe again,
I lost all my pyro equipment during my breakdown so i will need to find some more eventually.

I have been getting a few enquiries as regards to my wooden jewelry so thats encourageing.

Im getting there slowly but surely, i do get very bored sitting here tho, i will just remember when im up and running again that i wont be visiting the boredom again, It has been so hard trying to convince the powers that be that i needed a new career and i think my family have a 200 year history of mastercraftsmen might have helped even tho i dont see myself as one of them lol.
My dad was. He made very fine Sable hair artist paint brushes. Mrs Thatchers government put the mokkers on that tho.

    Onwards and upwards.

    Hey ho.

    Please pass the word.

As you say Steve. Onwards and upwards. Feet firmly planted on the ground. Why don't you plan your day by writing a list first thing in the morning of what you want to achieve that day and tick the items off as you complete the task. No matter how small the task is, do it and tick it off. At the end of the day you can look back at your achievement and know that it has been a useful day, even if only in small matters. Keep your chin up.

Good for you Steve, your glass is half full not half empty. My Husband had a breakdown and we wrote lists every night so he could tackle them each day. Sometimes things were carried over, but that's ok, and we didn't make the lists so long they seemed impossible to complete.

Allocate time to talk to people on the forums if you can't face going out, just join in the general banter it doesn't have to be about turning, and you will get to know, allbeit virtually, some lovely people.

Good Luck, hope it all works out for you in every way.

The story so far is that ive scrapped the idea of being a joiner/cabinet maker due to the lack of courses available.
I have gone for a more destructive course instead and have put in for a 360 Excavater drivers course, much closer to what i was doing before without the mileage on the motorways. I always liked playing with my tonka diggers.

Shed wise i have got some boarding for the internal walls and roof and today i picked up the timber for the framework of the workshop so if im feeling up to it tomorrow i will make a start on building the workshop, ive charged my cordless up ready for the build.
It's not going to be a big shed as im in a rented house and one day i am going to have to take it down again and transport it to my next place. It will be just big enough to house my lathe and a small workbench, My chisels will live on a wall and i will find a space too for my grinder for sharpening them.
With some luck and some well placed heartfelt begs i will up and running within a couple of weeks now.
This point seemed so far away 2 years ago when my whole world fell apart, I never thought in a million years it would take this long to get turning again but blind faith and a bucket load of self belief has got me to this point.

A wise man called Maharaji (Prem Rawat) keeps reminding me to do what makes me happy, Until im happy and fulfilled inside how can those who love me and those i love benefit. Thanks Maharaji you are an inspiration.

Good for you, it's always difficult getting back into the swing of things and keeping a positive attitude always helps.
Don't overdo things so much that you are so tired you either make mistakes or are too weary to do anything. Have fun with your cordless.
