  • Ohhhh... spit! What a fool I am!

I've been spending WEEKS agreeing a design with a lady for a wooden book - it's taken ages to get it just right. And so I print it out to transfer the outline onto the wood... and I forgot to leave space for the hinges!Ohhhh!! Spit, swear!

It's kinds hard to pyro on solid brass, so here I go back again to rejig the design around the hinges... on both sides, too - the front and the spine. It's not like I've never made one before, either - What an idiot I am!
    Cheers,
    Scorch

Phew - well, it was a pain, with much re-drawing, but it worked out in the end! I'd post a pic and show you... but the customer's not given permission to post it publicly on the site/Flickr as yet, and the attachment function here won't let me attach anything of any size. Unless anyone can tell me how to embed a pic into a post?

SNOWF1975 - Thank you for those kind words! The "Eve" box on the site is a pic of a past commission, so I don't have that exact one for sale, no, But I'd be more than happy to make you a box, or whatever else you fancy! I'll PM you...
        Cheers,

            a book with wooden boards

Having been a bookbinder in the past I was interested in the job you are doing.

Is it actually a book with wooden boards, or is it something in the shape of a book?

I have bound a few books with wooden boards.

I think it'll be fine, Pagan! It's to be a grimoire and perfume recipe book, and is very fancy and detailed, so I was concerned to get it right - but it looks really nice!

Thanks for the kind words about the site - it's horribly out of date, though. Did you mean the "Artist's Prayer", this one? : http://www.flickr.com/photos/tannison/2664369102/

I dreamed up and made the first one of those to hang over my desk, and have had to make quite a few since then - I guess other crafters think that way too!

Or did you mean one of these? http://www.flickr.com/photos/tannison/tags/goddess/

                Hiya, Richard

Yes, I really mean a book with wooden boards - plywood boards (for lightness and stability, with a good surface for pyro) hinged to open, and fitted with bookbinder's chicago screws to hold A4 or other paper sizes.
                Like this : http://www.flickr.com/photos/tannison/tags/book/

But nothing as professional and beautiful as yours - that's lovely! A really handsome job.

Mine are far more basic, but within my woodworking skill level - ie requiring virtually none!

oh great! I'll go check the other computer. All my emails come into my computer up the stairs. I tend to always use the laptop in the kitchen.

Exactly what is a grimoire? And what is a book of shadows?
