  • How to engrave complex image into wood

I want to engrave a picture of a person's fingerprint into some walnut, then fill that engraving with epoxy, but i have no idea how i can engrave it without having to manually cut it out myself. The fingerprint will be real size, so naturally doing it by hand would be insanely difficult.

I know that i can transfer an mirror image to the wood using an ink printer, but from there i just draw blanks on how to get from an ink image to a physical depression. Any ideas?

The only think I can think it get it laser engraved. A real size fingerprint cut into wood by traditional methods in majority of materials I’m guessing is practically a non starter due to the fine detail unless you increase the size. I had my thumbprint laser engraved into a stainless steel band, I’d sat that was the only way if at all as it is wood.
