Help with creating small shoulder tote bag

Hi there, I wondered whether anyone knew of an easy pattern on how to make a small/medium sized shoulder square/rectangular tote bag with a long strap. I have had a god but can never get them perfect with lining and a lip coming over in front of the bag with a fastener. Any ideas anyone....

a tote has a very simple begining.... 2 rectangles of fabric.

Actually now you have me thinking would you like a tute? I can try and photograph my progress on a simple shoulde tote that could easily be adapted?
