  • Am I really that sad!

I have recently discovered a place near me called trash and carry. Basically they sell alsorts of rubbish. Stuff that companies donate. Its for charity. They then sell it on to crafters etc. Last week I got a huge (I mean enormous!!!) tub of buttons. Must be in excess of 1000 all different sizes but all black or white They cost me about £2. Hows that for a bargain. Now for the sad bit. Dont know what I am going to use them for yet but I keep going into the dining room (They are on my table) and running my fingers through them!!! I am so excited about my bargain. Strange arent I?

what a funny name for a shop!

everyone likes a bargain and you definitely have one there!

Lots of things you can make with buttons: decorate bags, cushions, or clothes, use them in jewellery (great fasteners), or papercrafts, scrapbooking, ....
    Bead Shop, 91 Liverpool Road, Penwortham, Preston, PR1 0QB, Lancashire. Mon-Fri 10am-5pm, Sat 10am-4pm, Sunday 11am-3pm.

Wow that's such a bargain! I string buttons on elastic to make stretchey bracelets or in and out of the holes with cord or ribbon for necklaces.

There are a load of jewellery items you can make with the buttons and they would look rather funky in black and white!

We have a scrapstore near to us and everything in there is donated by local businesses. I've never seen buttons in mine but I did get a great bargain on 1000's of buttons recently so I won't complain or be jealous!

That sounds like my sort of a place to shop also - what a great bargain!!

I am also one of those people that will see something really cheap and get it and sometimes I don't really know what I will do with them but figure it's best to get them whilst they are cheap rather than pay a lot more for them at a later date!! Sometimes they will just end up sat in my drawers but I always find something to use them with - as they say, Crafters never waste anything!!

oooh I wish it was near me, I could mosaic allsorts with buttons especially in monotone!!!!

we have a place nearby that gets stuff from companies etc. You have to be a member for about £10 a year and then you can go and get what you like free.

Sounds great I know, and it was until about 18 months ago when they had a staff change around and the man running it now has pushed all the craft bits to one corner and has taken over the rest of the place with second hand electrical goods which you have to buy.

I wouldnt mind but he has a shop solely for this in town and another selling secondhand furniture!!!

If anyone knows of a place in my neck of the woods please, please let me know!!!

It sounds like a great place and you definitely got a bargain. I almost always buy crafty things without having a clear plan of what to do with them!
I come from North Wales although I now live in the Midlands, and visit quite a lot. There are not many craft supply places that I have found there so I will be adding it to my list for sure!
                              What crafts are you into??
