  • Terracotta pot puzzle...

I have painted some terracotta pots with emulsion and I'm looking for a clear varnish I can paint over the top so they can withstand watering. They are for indoor use.
Please help, I can't seem to find what I'm looking for!

Try using a diluted PVA based bonder that builders use to bond plaster etc to other surfaces.

One that I have used successfully on the inside of my unglazed pots is Unibond which is easily obtainable form DIY centres. I dilute it about 50/50 with water.

I've also used an acrylic based floor tile sealant which I happened to have left over after treating my parquet tile floor. That worked OK as well.

They both go on milky coloured but are clear when they dry.

      Marine varnish

Just a thought, what about good old marine varnish?

That would be waterproof ok, I would have thought it would take to the emulsion surface.
