  • decoupage sealant/finish?

    Hi

I've built a table which I want to cover with paper. I've done a couple of test panels with PVA glue which worked well, but now I need to seal it with a hard wearing finish.

I'd prefer to spray the finish if possible (or have it sprayed for me) as I think that will give the best result, especially as it's not just the top I'm doing.

Looking for advice on types of lacquer/varnish which will work best. I want a high gloss, durable finish. What do you use? Cost is obviously a consideration but the quality of finish is more important.

Any advice gratefully received- I'm a complete novice at anything crafty.

I'm not sure and you probably should get more advise but I remember my dad varnishing a painted table with yacht varnish, very durable obviously waterproof and a high gloss finish but i cant remember if it distorted the colour of the table or not

Thanks. I asked one of the paint manufacturers who suggested a car body shop to have it sprayed with a clear top coat. I think I'll try that first and see how it goes.
