  • The philosphy of painting

To all my fellow artists on the forum, I thought that I would start a thread that offers deep insights into the very art of art.

Remember that creating a masterpiece is easy... it is just a case of putting the paint in the right place!!

Happy painting and feel free to add your own thoughts.

    Inner Truth

When I paint I am attempting to reveal my inner child.

I always preferred to paint the inner child and reveal the rest.

LOL....this will be great...can we add favourite artist quotes too?

My partner recently said to me after I finished a painting

Him: "Why did you paint over what you had before, I liked the other painting more"

Me: "this is the other painting, it wasn't finished. I like it now!!!"

Him: "oh, sorry love, this is nice"

        hmmmm..not v.good at digging himself out of a hole...lol!

'Nice' isn't a word we like to hear in art

Sometimes what we say is not what we mean & what we mean is not what we say - that's why I paint!

can't claim to be an artist, but I like to dabble, and attended some painting classes last year (oils)
came back with a partly done canvas and kids went

          "wow...that's really great"
          Then

"what is it meant to be?"

havent got the oils and canvasses out for a while now..not surprisingly!

I love your quote, somerset artist!

I read this one on an artist's site the other day (sorry can't remember the artist's name, or I'd share that with you too):

"If a man has no tea in him, he is incapable of understanding truth and beauty" - Japanese proverb.

              I totally understand!!
