  • Paint effect question

Hi. I’m making some signs with pieces of MDF and am painting them before I apply vinyl. I’ve done primer and white paint so they are all white but now need to do some colour. They need to have red and blue on them as they are supposed to represent flags of different countries, but I don’t want the colours to be too dark otherwise the vinyl won’t show over them. I had thought of doing pastel colours but they won’t look like the actual flag colours. If I were to take regular red and blue colours and dilute them with water would that give more of a ‘wash’ over the white that is already there? If so what type of paints would be best to use?

    Thanks in advance

Thanks. I guess the kind of effect I’m looking for is similar to this. I’m not sure if chalk paints would do that.
