Tying wool

Iv been making another wool web (gods eye) and i am tying the feature bits of wool around the longer pieces. Like so



But they keep on coming undone!! Its so annoying. I spend ages threading them through. Am i cutting them too short or do i need a dab of glue? I dont want to use glue but if i must i will. What sort is best?

I would say your cutting to short. Looking good though.

I don`t know much about it but I would say maybe when you leave the ends of the thread longer and just hide them under the knot using thin crochet hook or sewing needle, maybe this can help... or try to find different knot (try google: "knot", "macrama" on the net...)

Not sure how to explain this without pictures but I'll give it a go. When you start the wrapping (feature piece) make a u shape from the end of the wool (opposite end to needle). Wrap tightly around the base wool and over the u shape working towards the closed end. When you have wrapped enough, thread your wool through the closed end and pull the other end which will take the loose end into your work and hide it holding it tight for you to snip the ends.

Thats a briliant idea if you are whipping tight but I don't think these are tight enough to hold like that. Do you know, that takes me back to the Girl Guides in 19?? just a couple of years ago. I had forgotten that way of knotting. Thanks for the memory.
