  • Crochet with wire

Have you ever tried crochet with wire? I was very intrigued about it so of course I had to give it a go.
It's a bit tough in the beginning as wire is a much harder material than yarn but I quite like it!
Also I bought wire without a spool and it was a big mess to start with.
You can read more about it in my blog and here are some pictures of what I've done so far.

Well done, they're lovely . What thickness of wire did you use? I've tried crocheting with wire but the end product, especially near the fastening, always seems so brittle!

        Thank you!
I want to make some cuffs as well just need to buy more wire...
I used 0.4 mm silver plated wire. It's a bit tricky indeed when you need to give the finishing touches as the wire is so thin but somehow I managed.

I have done a little and I think we used 24 gauge, if not 24 then it was 28. I added lots of beads first and then worked a chain turned and did a DC into each chain stitch placing the beads as I felt it needed. I worked it until it was about 3cm deep and the beads I used were various shades of dusky pink/aubergine etc and many different sizes. I also added some Swarovski Crystals when I thread the beads on. I used a coloured wire to co-ordinate with the beads. I'm not very good at crochet but this was fab. Also very quick. Do a google image search "bead crochet wire" for colour ideas etc
