I have been trying to find chain other than silver or gold. i would like to use copper or brass or gunmetal chain. can anyone reccommend any websites

also when i have bought silver plated chain i have noticed great quality differences between suppliers. is there any way of telling before you commit to buy whether its suitable for maikng charm bracelets

They do a variety of chain including, antique copper and bright colours. I think they would be fine for charm bracelets.

Yo could alway ask them to send you a sample - though they may charge.
