Is it weird to buy jewellery from other people? I love making jewellery and I love seeing people wear the stuff that I've made but I find it weird wearing my stuff myself. I love gemstones and can't stone set yet, I was thinking about getting into it but then it hit me that anything I made with stones in, I probably wouldn't want to sell anyway. I'm always buying jewellery made by other people and was wearing a bunch of it at my grandad's funeral today. The reaction I got was really weird, like "Why aren't you wearing stuff you've made?" And some people seemed really annoyed about it.

Is it that strange to wear stuff made by other people if you're a maker yourself? Chefs eat other chef's food. Actors watch other actors etc, what's so strange about it?

I wear my own Jewellery a lot but I also have pieces from elsewhere as there are some styles and materials I don't work in. Sometimes you just take a fancy to something that someone else has made and buy it. People used to give me jewellery as presents and don't now which is a shame, they always assume I will only want to wear my own designs which is so far from the truth.

I wear jewellery made by other people too! I occassionally wear my own designs, I particularly like being able to make something in a colour to match a particular outfit, although there like yourselves are many things im unable to make so it's nice to support fellow jewellery makers & wear their designs

I wear other peoples stuff as well
I try to make stuff for myself but then wonder if others will like it and it just ends up on the website

I am totally mesmerized by the quality of the jewelery that you carry. There is lot of variety and the selections are beautiful and well made. The workmanship is exquisite and the attention to detail is commendable.

I have made a lot for myself recently but I do like to buy others handmade jewellery as people work in different materials to me.

I almost feel bad about buying jewellery. I think that I should only make my own, silly really because there will always be designs that other people have made that I would never think of.

                Hi
You have jewellery are beautiful, there’s nothing wrong in wearing other people jewellery but you should wear your own also to promote it.

I must say I very much enjoy wearing other people's designs, but recently I've been trying to remember to wear at least one piece that I've made myself every time I go out.

I don't know why we are so reluctant but I don't usually wear my own jewellery either, I prefer discreet diamond jewellery not the chunky semi-p items I make. My daughter tells me I must showcase my things so I let her wear them instead! However when I do wear my own designs it doesn engender interest so maybe we should force ourselves. (Maybe we think we're showing off?!!!)

I never wear my own creations, which is weird as I love the stuff that I make but think I'd feel like a bit of a show off!!

I must say I am really strange. I love making jewellery but I very rarely wear any jewellery. In fact the only jewellery item I wear is my wedding ring. I keep thinking that I should wear more jewellery as it is another way of advertising what I make.

I wear a lot of my own jewellery, but some of the items i make start as something for myself, then i make more of it to sell. i do wear jewellery from other places too though. My jewellery is very colourful, so i tend to wear it if i want it to stand out.

I don't think it really matters if you wear your own jewellery, its nice to wear different things now and again x

This is really heartening! I make jewellery yet don't wear much if any jewellery, particularly my own designs! Not sure why - sometimes I make something really lovely and will keep it, but I go off it really quickly. I guess I enjoy shopping, and its a treat to buy someone else's designs.
