  • Dragonscale bracelet

In between census collecting, I've spent the last couple of weeks making my first Dragonscale bracelet, using a kit from Blue Buddha Boutique...

The large rings are copper, and there are little yellow and orange aluminium rings nestling inside. Really enjoyed making it, once I'd got the hang of it!!

    Hope you like xx

Definitely not a first attempt at maille - think I'd have been scared rigid if that was the first thing I'd attempted!!!

I've been mailing for over 6 months now, so have had a fair bit of practice, and I hope I'm getting better!! I'm missing it a lot at the moment - usually I can maille all day, but I'm currently working in a short-term contract, so I've been unable to give it as much time as I'd like.

I've just ordered rings to do another Dragonscale bracelet, but this time it'll be purple, turquoise and bright aluminium inside larger bright aluminium rings - can't wait to get started!!

Very nice, I love the Blue Buddha Boutique website, is it costly getting stuff sent from the US?

It depends a lot on whether you get picked up for customs charges. That adds a minimum of £8 ("admin" charge from Royal Mail ) on delivery. I tend now to place smaller orders, more frequently.

It's beautiful. I'd love to give chain maille a go, but find it hard enough to find time to make any jeweelery at the moment.

                    Thanks

Chainmaille, in my view, is one of those things that you try out, and if you really enjoy it, it fast becomes an addiction!! I can lose myself for whole days at a time, and find myself coming up with new colour combinations, weaves etc, to try at all sorts of strange times, and especially when I ought to be concentrating on other things (like work, housework!).

Once you've got the bug, you're pretty much doomed!!

It's really beautiful and nice. Copper is just so warm and earthy that when I wear it I feel like I’m going back to the earth. Copper has been known to help arthritis pain, so some people wear copper pieces for pain relief and some wear it because it’s just gorgeous. It has different effects on different people. Copper is such an earthy metal and this is made from solid copper

Actually, only the outer layer of rings are copper. There's an inner layer made from anodised aluminium rings.

                        But thanks for liking it.

                              Hi, Muffin!
I just want to ask: Isn't copper toxic? What, I mean is, can it really be used for example earrings (for pierced earlobes )? Usually copper is layerd with silver for some reason...
