  • Favourite 'Pearls of Wisdom'?

I have just uploaded a new selection of 'pearls of wisdom' themed bracelets to my website alongside a new range of charm necklaces. It had me wondering what everyones favourite little 'pearl of wisdom' that they have heard (or always use) is?

One of my favourites has to be the old 'Always be yourself for life is too short to be anyone else'

Looking forward to hearing all of your favourites

Cleaning the house while kids are growing is like shoveling snow while its still snowing!
    And
Why do today what can be put off 'till tomorrow!

They have to be my favourite two sayings!

I love pearls too and am always looking for strings of them on ebay or wherever I can. I have a number of favourite sayings and am always using them, especially with our boys, who are in their teens and twenties now, 'treat others like you want to be treated' and 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'. My brain's gone blank on others atm... I'm sure there'll be some lovely phrases on this thread, lovely idea Ayla

Love all these especially 'A smile costs nothing but can brighten someone's day.' (so true) and 'Once you start to think outside the box, you never get back in.' I've never heard that one before!

And nettie, wouldnt it be nice if everyone lived by sayings like those!

As a child i would always say things like, I wish I was a grown up or I wish I was ten so I could play out longer when i was only 6 and my mum would always say to me don't wish your life away you have plenty of time for everything . I never understood but now find myself saying very same thing to my 7 year old .. Funny isn't it how things come back to you .

My father didn't teach me much but just before I went off to sea at the tender age of 16 (it was a tender age in those days) He said " Always treat a woman as a lady, whether she is or not"

"I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show any fellow creature, let me do it now, let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again." (Stephen Grellet 1773-1855)

I'd like to think I remember this always but I'm not that saintly!
