  • Nylon nose pliers

    Hello

I have been looking for nylon nose pliers for a while. I am finding them a bit hard to track down. Have had a look at a few sites on here and no joy.

Are there any members here who sell them. If so please let me know.

    Thanks
    Julz

I've been wondering whether to buy a pair of these, do they actually stop marks on wire

They don't stop it completely, but they do help reduce them

I've found that the worst offenders for marking wire/rings are round nose pliers When I'm making maille pieces, I try to use flat nose pliers, dunked in ToolMagic. If the piece uses larger rings (like the Byzantine bracelet) I can use my nylon nose pliers, but they're too bulky for smaller weaves.

I have heard about tool magic can you buy it in any DIY shop?

Solitaire I want some of these to hold my wire when im making coils as my flat nose ones can mark it. Also heard they are good for straightening wire.

When I get mine will let you know how I get along with them can imagine they will be bulky for fiddly bits.

I was told that some car parts places have it, possibly under a different name, in much larger quantities for much cheaper.

I got mine from a bead fair - not much help, I know

I use toolmagic too (from Palmer Metals). If I can't be bothered to wait, I just wrap a strip of low tack masking tape round the tips though. Even sellotape will work in a pinch.

having tried using my soft nose pliers from p.j.minerals have found them too bulky and slippy to grip wire and jewellery findings. I think I will try to make my own!

                          Hi Julz

I don't stock Nylon nose pliers but I could probably get hold of a few pairs from one of my suppliers if you still have no luck. You are welcome to drop me a line.
