I have been looking at silver chains but how do you work out how thick they are, do the sizes 4mm mean the circumference or the length of each link?

It is so hard to pick things like this from just looking at a website

    Hello Solitaire

I think that 4mm is the length.

Agree with you shopping online is not as nice as seeing the thing first hand I wish we had a bead shop near us.

    Happy shopping

I know what you mean Julz its good to get ideas looking online but I love to wander round a proper bead shopping.

I bought some chains a while ago and they are useless for what I wanted to do with them, so I think I will email these sellers and see if then can confirm it for me.

I'm sure if you e-mail anyone they will help as far as possible, it is a lot easier to see in person what you want though.

Wish there was more here too.

I believe the 4mm refers to the width or diameter of the chain.

As per my understanding, There is no hard and fast rule over thickness of chains. Based on design and style the thickness may change.

            Any other thoughts???
