After buying a pair of purple plastic button studs for £1 at a jewellery sale, i have totally fallen in love with buttons!! Iv found thee best website for loads of differernt kinds and fully intend to make loads of studs.

Would the same sort of glue be ok for stud backs on wood, shell, plastic, horn and other material?

I just love buttons - I cannot stop making them, really into vintage buttons too as you can probably see from my webstore!

In regards to glues, I think you would really need to check the instructions on any glue you want to use. Some glues can be really funny about certain plastics. Also, sometimes different glues just work better for different materials.

I like basic two-part epoxy glues best myself as they tend to work on most materials and offer a strong but flexible bond.
