Question about restringing pearls

Hi,

A friend has asked me to restring two sets of pearls she has, they are both strung on thread, and one set are glass pearls and the other appear to be just pearl coated beads.

She doesn't want them knotted, just restrung as the clasp is broken on one and the thread has snapped on the other.

Basically, given that they are not freshwater pearls, what is the best thing to re string them on? I have some beadalon (21) that I was going to use, would I be better to use something different?

you could use beading thread, a bit like sewing thread but loads stronger.

I'd either use pearl silk, or to get as close as possible in drape, something like a softflex 49. The lower stranded beading threads don't hang as nicely, and pearls (real or not) aren't heavy enough to get them to lie well IMO.
