  • Well i got a cork board...

..and realised that i have no idea how to transport it to fairs without a car! Thee next fair im going to is ok as il have transport but any others that i get the bus too i usually pack a suitcase.

Iv wanted to display my stuff on boards for a while now and bought 2 from Ikea to cover. They are a good size and i am going to put them at an angle to take up a lot of the table as i can fit a lot on them. But they are kinda big....Any idea how to transport them without hitting people on the head on the bus!?

I often see jewellery crafters with a large wheelie suitcases.

They open them up and inside are are their products already pinned on boards.

if you can get hold of a clear portfolio case , the type college/uni students carry to hold their artwork
they are massive and should take the corkboards

There are things that jigsaws are stored in,I think they are called jig boards. One is a role up thing for people who want to do jigsaws, then remove them intact from the table they are working on but Im sure you can get a more solid type, like a portfolio.

If you also hinge them, which is what we have done with our cork boards, they will fold, and then easily fit into a portfolio case.

I also managed to cover them by sliding the material under the board edge rather than cover the edging, which then makes putting the hinges on easier.

Good luck, what about a taxi? cost should come out of travel expenses.

The suitcase would need to be huge. I think i just missed judged the size of them when i bought them

I dont think i want to hinge them. As in i want to use them on the table rather than standing up.

Why not just put handles on the ends of the boards?
              Best wishes

The Works has portfolios in lots of sizes at very reasonable price. They are very well made & have a shoulder strap, which makes for easier carrying.

If you have to make a special trip for one I'd ring them up first to see if they do a size suitable for your boards.

Good luck - its really hard to find ways to get your stuff to craft fairs etc when you have to go by bus.
