I've just spent abs ages on a necklace using £12 of beads,
and it's disgusting!! Embarrassed infront of myself for creating this piece

Waste of time and tigertail! I think i should stick to pendants!

Surely it's not a total waste? Lots of people think my stuff isn't too their taste.... some of my stuff isn't to my taste either, but someone usually likes it!

    Giv's a look then.

I used allsorts of green beads (cats eye, flourite, faceted etc) and copper tigertail, it looked like a giant green jungle mess!

Hmmm... ok - well at least you're not throwing the lot away. Don't give up on necklaces though!

I do sympathize, I love necklaces with beads in lots of different colours and shapes but every time I make them they look a mess.
I tend to use just two different colour beads and black, grey or cream to contrast. A friend of mine makes loads of necklaces with just one type of gemstone and a spacer bead between each one. They look really classic and she sells lots. So don't give up yet.

I like the sound of a great big green jungle mess actually. It sounds like my kinda mess.

You should really have shown us piccies you know, because I will bet my last rolo that you are being way too hard on yourself.

Sometimes with necklaces it can be a good idea to thread them up and not add the clasps, then sleep on it (no, not literally)

Then in the morning, you can look with fresh eyes and see what your gut reaction is to the design. Many times it would work the other way around, a design that late at night I thought was awful I found I actually really liked when I looked again in the morning and was happy to then finish it up and put the clasps on.

Definitely don't give up on necklaces though!

                I'll bet it isn't!

I'll bet you have created something really unique - sometimes I create Greetings Cards and also Canvas's that I think are awful. I used to stare at them for ages and then pop in the b-1-n.

But now I just pop them out at Craft Fairs and someone always picks them up... post a picture - bet it's really good !! xxx

Oh man I hate it when yu've got to give something up as a dead loss. My silver scrap pot is full of pendants I've spent days making then gone 'no no no it's just too pants'.

Unfort dont have anyt craft fairs so no way of selling!!

Ooh no, if you make something gooky it reflects on your style! Everything i make out of fimo more or less gets binned, i made some brilliant she ra style roses and someone squished them completely flat before i cooked them!!

remade the necklace into a bangle and simple tigertail necklace. I dont wearr bead necklaces which makes it harder to decipher what looks stylish! nothing wrong with simple.

Hey with your fine silver you can atleast melt it down or cut/file it for tiny work!

Thank goodness for recycling, or I would have wasted hundreds of pounds on stuff going in the bin.
Thing is, more often than not someone will like your mess; just not always enough to want to buy it.

I make my necklaces from just pulling out a few beads out of a mixed bead bin and just stringing them together with anything else that I can find, people seem to like them.

                        Strange..I know!!

My only rule is that the colours should complement but other than that.. bobs your uncle!! People seem to like the mess that I create..lol

You should let us see and let us be the judge of ugly..lol.

I have started making beaded watches and the first one I hate but everyone loves it!!
Still Finding my niche but getting there!!!

If you are making a commission, it's fine!

But general jewellery making i couldnt blaspheme my style, dont like clutter, it wd be like dirt that needs swept away!

no before pictures haha thankfully, but i reused the beads for two necklaces and a bangle, much prefer it, still looks organic as a set . pics 2 and 3 http://www.craftsforum.co.uk/album.php?albumid=436
i know bangles are extremo easy to make but i dont wear anyother bracelets... though i have a silver charm bracelet, silver is so expensive to make without selling
