  • FIMO questions for those that use it....?

    Hi there.
I've just bought a load of FIMO in various colours to have a go at making some beads/charms etc.
I got the FIMO soft kind, do you think this is okay?
Also, should I get a varnish type thing? I see that FIMO do their own one in various finishes, what would you recomment, or is normal varnish or nail polish as good?

Any tips for using FIMO for a beginner?
    Many thanks
    Louise

I used a varnish before that made the items i varnished very sticky, I cant remember what it was called but i think it was a german/swedish brand that usually makes supplies for model trains etc. So you have to be aware that some varnishes will react with the clay and make it tacky etc, probs just best to stick to the official fimo varnish.

Hi - I've just started using fimo and I'm obsessed. I already had some varnish so I've used that for now - It's seems to work well. It's a make called DecoArt and the varnish is called - Dura Clear. It's made my fimo all lovely and shiny as it's the gloss version but obviously it depends what look you are going for. But I would suggest that you should varnish all your beads so that they will be tougher and less likely to break.

        Thanks.
I just got a tub of satin finish varnish for fimo, so hopefully that will do the trick. Now I'm googling for inspiration.
        Thanks again
